Aim of the project "Territorial Planning in the GDR" is to secure knowledge of contemporary witnesses for the reconstruction of the history of territorial planning in the GDR. For this reason the work group has compiled a list of persons of the offices responsible for territorial planning and the district administration of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED Bezirksleitungen) of all districts of the GDR, who agreed to be interviewed. Besides the experiences and knowledge of the interviewees also information concerning material in archives is of relevance for the project.

On the basis of a question guide, interviews were conducted with the contemporary witnesses. The interviews were analysed in 2005. Results and conclusions can be expected in spring 2006.
